Résumé : Every year thousands of people coming from countries outside the European Union (EU) attempt to cross its borders, either trying to avoid different kinds of persecution (political, religious, racial, etc.) or in search for a better future for themselves as well as for their families. This phenomenon is certainly not recent and has led to personal and family tragedies of many of these people during their efforts to cross the EU borders.
